公历1871年日本的儒学者中村正直译英国人 Samuel Smiles 著的书
Self Help (自助论).  这书解说欧州的政体和社会制度.
日本明治时代 (1868-1912) 的文人很爱是书.

译者中村正直以汉文记其序文.是名文也.
但今年在日本,多人不知道是书.

In 1871, Confucianist scholar 中村正直 (Nakamura Masanao)
translated 'Self Help' by Samuel Smiles. This book served
as a guide to European political and social institutions
and was very popular in the Meiji Era.

The translator's preface was in classic Chinese. It is great.
However, many people in Japan today do not know about this book.

I'm using Ubuntu and have no problem reading them.

However, if you are trying to find an IME which can be used to input
large amount of Chinese characters, I recommend trying Pinyin IME,
if you know Pinyin. Or Zhuyin (bopomopo) for traditional Chinese. Or
even use anthy if you do not know much about them. Only use IMEs
capable of typing rarely used characters as an alternate.

Several IME widely used by native Chinese speaking people in open
source community:

* SunPinyin (ibus/scim/fcitx/xim frontend included, believed capable
to type in most rarely used characters)
* fcitx-pinyin
* ibus-pinyin
* scim-pinyin

Also, you may try those alternate IME schemas:

* wubi (five stroke)
* biaoxingma (表形码, literally "shape based code")
* zhengma (郑码)

Hi,
1, here's a web page testing your font's capabilities. (
http://ctext.org/font-test-page/zh )
2,
I recommend Cangjie to input rare chinese.
I hardly input rarely used chinese.
but it seems that it's difficult to input rarely used chinese
by pronunciation.
I have copied some text in CJK Extension D to match the cangjie table in my
IME, and it matched.
And I use rimeime (http://code.google.com/p/rimeime). it provides pinyin,
zhuyin, and cangjie.
It's not available in most linux distros' official repo.

$ LANG=C grep '𫞂' cangjie5.table.bin
Binary file cangjie5.table.bin matches

$ LANG=C grep '𫠝' cangjie5.table.bin
Binary file cangjie5.table.bin matches
